Cover Letters

AI cover letter review, with the final word left to you

Explain why this role interests you and how your experience fits. LadderReady lets you write, edit and save Cover Letters for free, alongside your CVs and Job Applications.

Already have a draft? Optional Cover Letter AI can suggest a clearer, more relevant revision using the letter and context you supply. It does not replace your saved text unless you choose Apply revision.

A cover letter review checklist you can use now

Start with the employer’s instructions: check whether a letter is requested and whether there is a word limit. Keep the job description and the CV or resume you plan to send beside your draft.

  1. 1

Opening: name the role and give a specific, truthful reason for your interest. Avoid praise you could send to any employer.

  2. 2

Evidence: pick one or two requirements and explain where you have demonstrated them. Use your own work, study, project or volunteering examples.

  3. 3

Consistency: check dates, responsibilities, skills and any numbers against your CV. Do not turn a requirement in the job advert into a qualification you claim to have.

  4. 4

Final read: remove repeated CV details, vague claims and unnecessary wording. Check the employer’s name, spelling and closing, then read it aloud to check that it sounds like you.

Replace a broad claim with a real example

Illustrative writing example, not an AI result: imagine you have helped new volunteers use a booking system and the role calls for clear explanations.

Too broad
I am an excellent communicator and a perfect fit for your team.
Grounded in the supplied example
Helping new volunteers use our booking system gave me practice explaining unfamiliar steps clearly, which is relevant to the support work in this role.

Use this approach only with facts that are true for you. The example gives no basis for adding a team size, performance improvement or qualification.

How AI cover letter review works in LadderReady

  1. Write or paste a draft in Cover Letters and save it. A nonempty saved letter is required; this is not a blank-page letter generator.
  2. Optionally link the CV you intend to send. Select a saved Job Application for its context, or supply the job title, company, description and notes in the letter editor.
  3. Request AI help using your shared AI credits. The review aims to improve clarity, structure and relevance while preserving your language, voice and supplied facts.
  4. Read the suggested revision and explanation. If a useful revision would need unsupported facts, the result can explain that no safe revision is possible. Check every claim yourself.
  5. Choose Apply revision only if you want to replace the saved letter. You can also keep editing yourself. LadderReady does not submit the application to the employer.

AI can make mistakes. It is instructed not to invent achievements, qualifications or metrics, but the review is not independent fact-checking, an ATS score or a guarantee of an interview.

Free writing, with optional paid extras

Writing, editing and saving a Cover Letter is free. You can also create, edit and download a CV using a Free template without a watermark or AI credits. Pro adds premium CV designs and an AI credit allowance.

One completed, validated Cover Letter AI analysis uses 1 AI credit, including when no safe revision is possible. Reviewing or applying a result costs no extra credit.

Resume Tailor and Cover Letter AI share the same balance. Promotional credits are granted once per account. Pro’s included credits expire at the end of each paid period; purchased credits do not expire. Having Pro does not provide unlimited AI use.

Top-ups can be purchased while Pro is active. Purchased credits remain usable after Pro ends while the AI Assistant is enabled.

Your letter and your information

Your saved Cover Letters belong to your account. Include only the personal information needed for the application. You choose the text to use and submit the finished application yourself.

An explicit AI request may send your saved letter, bounded content from a linked CV and the job details and notes supplied for the letter to OpenAI. The queued source snapshot is encrypted and cleared after completion or failure; the original text and validated result remain encrypted in the letter’s analysis history until the letter or account is deleted.

LadderReady has not opted API content into training. Provider retention and international processing still apply; this is not a promise of zero retention or EU-only processing.

Cover letter questions

Can I write a cover letter for free?

Yes. Create an account to write, edit and save Cover Letters for free. You can use the checklist on this page without an account. Follow the employer’s instructions when submitting your application yourself.

What should I have ready before writing?

Keep the job description, the employer’s application instructions and your CV or resume nearby. Choose a specific reason for applying and one or two examples from your own experience that address the role.

Does Cover Letter AI write a letter from scratch?

No. Save a nonempty draft first. Cover Letter AI reviews that letter and can propose a revision or explain why no safe revision is possible. A linked CV and job details are optional context; supplying them helps ground the review.

What if my letter or job details change after a review?

You cannot apply an outdated suggestion after the letter, linked CV or job details change. Run a new analysis for a current suggestion. Each new completed analysis uses credits; reviewing and applying a result uses no extra credits.
